Housing Resources
Affordable housing is essential to DBHDS’ mission to build a life of opportunities for all Virginians. DBHDS supports individuals with developmental disabilities to explore independent housing options in their communities and to identify the supports they need to move into their own homes. DBHDS administers housing resources specifically for individuals receiving services through one of Virginia’s Medicaid waivers for individuals with developmental disabilities or those who are on a waiver waitlist.
These resources include funds for long-term rental assistance as well as Flexible Funds for one-time housing costs such as security and utility deposits. DBHDS’ Regional Housing Coordinators are available to assist individuals, their families and support teams with navigating a broad array of housing resources and opportunities.
